FreeBSD Xorg doesn’t work? Here’s probably why. (Solution)

You need to add the following highlighted lines to your /etc/rc.conf file. Also note I have a commented out line that states the handbook says to add it (as a note to self). You’ll need to do ee /etc/rc.conf to edit your config. I did cat to print to screen what mine looks like.

[cybz@sgi /usr/home/cybz]$ cat /etc/rc.conf
zfs_enable=”YES”
hostname=”sgi.local”
sshd_enable=”YES”
ifconfig_em0=”inet 172.16.0.100 netmask 255.255.255.0″
defaultrouter=”172.16.0.3″
ntpdate_enable=”YES”
ntpdate_hosts=”ntp1.kansas.net”
#Handbook says to add the following for Xorg
hald_enable=”YES”
dbus_enable=”YES”
gnome_enable=”YES”
linux_enable=”YES”
webcamd_enable=”YES”
vboxnet_enable=”YES”
devfs_system_ruleset=”system”
webmin_enable=”YES”
[cybz@sgi /usr/home/cybz]$
